Networking Morning Tea - PERTH
Wednesday, March 26, 9:30-11:30am
Join other support groups and service providers to share information, contacts and ideas. Discuss successes, opportunities and learn about the value of support groups.
Caroline Horlock, from Silver Chain will present a session on a holistic approach to wellness. She will focus on how to care for yourself so that you are better equipped to live a full and happy life and share that philosophy with those whom you live and work. Siver Chain is one of the largest providers of community, residential and health services in Western Australia. Location: ConnectGroups Office

Workshop - The Human Face in the Media - PERTH
Wednesday, May 21, 1:00-3:30pm
This workshop, presented by the very knowledgeable and engaging Tony Serve, looks at how to be an effective group spokesperson when dealing with the media. Tony will explain the risks and rewards of putting yourself in front of the camers or microphone. Mock interviews will be conducted to prepare you for the actual interview. Should individual participants agree, the interviews may be used for further training purposes. Location: ConnectGroups Office

Emma, the Community Development Officer from the Shire of Busselton will present valuable information on how she can assist support groups and community organisations in the Busselton are. Anna from the South West Development Commission and David from Connect Southwest (my southwest) will provide information to support groups and community organisations on available services such as free website templates, free directory lisitings and available grants. New or developing organisations, which do not have paid staff or adequate resources, can apply for a grant to help with establishment costs. These organisations may be eligible for a small grant of up to $5,000 towards the cost of non-recurrent administrative, incorporation or publicity costs. Visit www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au . One-off Grants

Royal Life Saving Society Australia is pleased to offer a Swimming, Water Safety and Awareness program specifically for women (only) from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
