Networking Morning Tea Expressions of Interest
The March 26th Networking Morning Tea was a great success with Caroline Horlock from Silver Chain giving a presentation on A Holistic Approach to Wellness. Due to popular demand we are looking at running another session near the end of April. ‘The Human Face in the Media’
DATE AMENDED to Wednesday, 28 May, 1:00-4:00pm
This workshop will look at how to be an effective group spokesperson when dealing with the Media. Tony Serve will explain the risks and rewards of putting yourself in front of the microphone or camera and mock interviews will be conducted in order to prepare you for an acutal interview. Re-brand
Stage 1 of our Re-brand where we changed our name from WISH to ConnectGroups – Support Groups Association WA and launched our fresh new logo was completed in September last year. Since then we have been busily working on our new website and other promotional material. We expect to launch the final stage of the Re-brand in late May and look forward to celebrating this milestone achievement with you. Please watch this space for further details.

State Administrative Tribunal - Vista Public Lecture Series
23 April 2008
Through this new initiative top WA speakers will present their views on the likely state of affairs in WA in the year 2020. Sentencing in the Criminal Justice System will be presented this month by Justice Christopher Steytler, President of the WA Court of Appeal. Lectures are monthly, free and start at 12.30pm. MIFWA
Mental Illness Fellowship of WA has secured Short Breaks funding from Carers WA for a two night stay for carers from the Well Ways program who have not attended a short break previously with MIFWA. There are ten places available at the Tradewinds Hotel Fremantle. The short break is scheduled for April 2008. Contact Pam on 9228 0200 or email pam@mifwa.org.au

ARAMFI Holiday Respite Program has funding available for organisations to provide planned recreational / holiday activities for people with a diagnosed mental illness living North of the River in metropolitan Perth. This service is directed towards people in the 18-64 age group and funding is available for up to $500 per person. Closing date is 4pm, Friday 18 April. Department of Education and Training are inviting community-based, not-for-profit, incorporated organisations to deliver training to community members. Disability Services Commission (WA) is offering a Community Aids and Equipment Program - CAEP. They have an EXTENSIVE range of loan equipment and home modifications for people with a long-term disability.
