Lotterywest Disability Access and Inclusion Plan Consultation
You are invited to participate in a survey which aims to improve access to Lotterywest's services and facilities for people with disabilities, their families and carers. Mindbodylife
Often people with a mental illness have to take medications for their mental illness that can lead to weight gain. When struggling with a mental illness, looking after your physical health as well as your mental health can be too much. Emmanuel Centre offers the Mindbodylife program to help people with mental illness to address these issues. For more information phone Amanda on 9328 8113.

Financial Assistance Towards Community Projects
General Community Purposes Grant

The Shire of Mundaring is offering financial assistance up to a maximum of $500.00 for local community organisations.  This grant enables funds to be provided for many different purposes that have a Shire focus and demonstrate their benefit to the local community.  Applications must be submitted by 4pm Friday, 8 June 2007.  Successful groups will be advised by the end of July.  Further information and copies of the application forms are available from the Shire of Mundaring's website at www.mundaring.wa.gov.au or by contacting the Shire on 9290 6682.

Small Grants available to Communities Celebrating WA Week
14-21 October 2007

Your Eyes Only
The Foundation for Young Australians' new creative grant opportunity 'Your Eyes Only' is for young people 12 -15 years to celebrate the strengths of their community by submitting a creative application celebrating their community through their eyes. Successful applicants will nominate a community group working with young people in their community (for example a school, youth group or sporting group) to receive a donation. This donation would then be used by the community group to further its work by either purchasing much needed equipment or adding funds to an existing program.

Helping Local Community Groups Make a Difference - Cultural & Community Grants 2007/2008 -City of Melville
The City of Melville offers a number of Cultural and Community Development Grants. These grants aim to encourage and develop local community projects by supporting community groups that make a positive contribution to community and cultural life in the City of Melville.

If this sounds like your community group and you meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Incorporated or auspiced by an incorporated body;
• Not for profit, and
• Limited capacity to raise funds
...then your group is encouraged to apply!

Major Community Development Grants have an upper limit of $10,000 with major grant funding provided once a year.  Applications close at 5.00pm, Friday 25 May 2007.

CARERS WA FREE WORKSHOPS
Everybody's Talking, but Nobody's Listening

So many carers feel ignored or overlooked when it comes to talking. Everyone focuses on the person they care for and don't always want to hear about how caring affects the carer. This workshop explores the roller-coaster ride of feelings that many carers can experience, including anger, sadness, stress and confusion, and how to deal with them most effectively – for everyone’s sanity!

Safety at Home
Wednesday 13 June 2007
Nearly a third of carers report injury as a result of their caring role - much of this can  be attributed to lifting and a lack of appropriate equipment or support.  This workshop will cover practical aspects of maintaining a safe, caring environment for both the person you care for and you!

Fragile X Syndrome Seminar
22 July 2007, 9am-1pm

Strokesafe Education Seminars
These seminars aim to identify the key steps that will help make individuals safe from stroke. Individuals attending the seminars will learn to understand stroke, improve their knowledge about the signs of stroke, the action to take , the risk factors and how to prevent stroke. A seminar is also available on 'Life after Stroke' .
